5500 rpm stock motor

Have raced with 5000 and 5500 rule.
I set mine to 4800 no problems, you go over that your not making power.
Besides most tracks have a set gear rule for this class, so its on you if you go over.
 
I believe that the surge rule was implemented to keep people from adding heavier or zip tied springs on the gov. . thus keeping the engine more closely to Stock Out of the Box format , without the Tech man to having to do much teching . All he has to do is hear the slight hint of a surge , and he knows you haven't messed with anything , which makes his job easier . Even tho the engine will only turn so many rpm's , under load it will not surge , but under a freewheel situation it should , because that is the governors job , to regulate the speed of the engine from over speeding . JMO
