Animal motor break in on gas or methanol

Rebuilding a B&S animal motor, it will race using methanol. To break it in I have been hearing I should break it in running it on gasoline. Any opinions, and what about jetting the carb for use of gas. Thanks for any input .

If you are going to break it in on gas, then it should be jetted for gas. Breaking it in on gas while using the alcohol jets will absolutely flood the cylinder (and likely bottom end) with fuel = not desirable.

I break them in on the fuel that they'll be raced with. Just an opinion. I know others opinions will vary.

Since you use about twice as much fuel in a methanol engine I have a gas carb i use to break in all my Animal motors with. I don't want to wash down the cylinder walls or dilute the oil with fuel.
Once i am done with my break in procedure i put the methanol carb on and do the tuning and testing.
