I use mostly the WF but there is nothing wrong with the ARC rod. The ARC rod will delay TDC slightly, about .4 - .6 degree . Many would theorize that this can result in a slight performance advantage. I will assemble with a clearance of .002 - .004, with between .0025 - .0035 preferred . I have taken apart other builders motors and seen as high as .0087, better rebuild them often with those numbers.
There seems to be an increasing trend to use the stock rod especially with plate motors, it is well designed but flaws drive me crazy.
