Just getting back into karting. Need advice on what axle to choose. Would aluminum be a good choice? Coyote Widetrack, flathead heavy 375 lbs. trying to shave off some weight.
1/4 mile asphalt road course. Thanks in advance
From what i remember, the aluminum is quite a bit lighter. but they do not last. When the competition is rough that axle is toast. got tired of replacing them when i was younger and the heavy class was only 360.
For road course there are many axle options. Axle thickness and material being some of the main factors to consider. Depends on track grip for example.
For that kart, go with the factory 1/4" thick steel axle. Anything more flexable and you won't be able to control it in braking zones and tight corners.
