bully clutch driver/basket question

How much rotational play is normal with a genuine bully basket and driver? With mine race ready it seems like there is a lot of rotating room.. My clutch is making lots of chattering when it starts to engine but runs perfect 4200+.

Chatter would be more a disc , floater or pressure plate warpage issue.
mis adjusted springs could possibly be a cause.

pressure plate and floater would require disassembly.
properly mark everything so it goes back exactly like it came apart.
a surface plate or thick piece of glass and a feeler gauge or light check.

If it's really bad, you can see/feel it with feelers gauges when you check air gap.

The driver should be a press fit into the basket. Now, that's not to say that when it becomes worn or loose that you just pitch it. I've run/used them myself with a considerable amount of wear that the driver rotates slightly in the basket. Once the clutch is engaged, the driver will be pulled back against the basket and won't continue slipping until the clutch disengages (if then.)
Just be sure that the snap ring can't slip off - then you could have problems. I've seen them wear enough that I thought they were machined for a Horstman (big) driver....that's excessive. :)
