Can someone explain the differences in classes....

Very new to karts so we are trying to learn. Kid is 7 but will be 8 in the fall. He is currently running a clone/red plate.

Can we change the plate and let him run with the bigger kids to get seat time?

Are the rules basically universal or is there different rules for all different tracks?

Sorry so vague.
 
Those are generally good questions for your track owner/operator. Unless you say specifically which track, most are different and might allow or not allow certain things.
 
I think as long as you move up you can't move back down, unless you want to move him up because he is too good in the lower class, ? the best thing start in the lower class then work your way up would be much better for the kid.................
