changing yamaha rotation

to change engine rotation on a kt100 to go from inboard to outboard drive can I just lift off the head and cylinder assembily and rotate 180 degrees and reassemble?

Don't forget to switch the rotor/stator to a CCW assembly instead of CW...

I am sure it can be done by just turning the jug around and swapping out the ignition for reverse rotation but some extra attention needs to be paid to the transfer ports for the best performance, they do not mach up directly when turned around.

When we first turned the KT barrel in 1976, so that the exhaust exited in the rear, we actually found an increase in power in spite of the mismatch on the barrel in the transfer area.

don't forget to turn the piston around with the cylinder, have run them both ways with no mods and there is no loss of noticeable power.
