Did you know?

That's the purpose of this thread.
I'll start with a little known fact from flathead lore.

If you spray starting fluid in the muffler of your flathead, it will aid starting.

Try it.

Bring on your flathead fact.

Flatheads are still fun to build.

You must replace the Diaphragm quite often . And to do so one must remove small screws that hold the cover over the diaphragm, those screws require a small flat head screw driver , Those same screws will thread right into the throttle cable adjustment block replacing the screw that requires the special size very small Allen head set screw to adjust the throttle linkage. Much more user friendly and a lot easier to find a small screw driver that that darn little Allen wrench .

The top of the valve spring chambers thickness varies depending on the mold the block was casted in, if you go to deep with the pocket the spring sometimes will wear thru the pocket even with an upper retainer installed. One other that I never did but have seen done a lot. On the old Rapture pistons if you compress it in on the wrist pin sides the skirts will get larger to take up piston to cylinder clearance for a last rebuild before boring the cylinder.
