forged legal rod

vacuum forged... shoot that's no better then cast do to air pockets... why not just punch out a red hot peace of 6061 then bore the 2 ends and cut to fit... give me a torch a mill a old school press and I could make it.... too bad I don't have the stuff just sitting around the house to go to...

It is a little more involved than just a torch and a press. The stamp molds going from slug to net shape can be expensive. To make it economical you must forge out many thousands at a time.

BUT it is the best alternative to a cast rod. High vacuum casting is a great process BUT you still do not have the grain structure that you have with a forging done correctly. Same with a CNC billet rod. With cnc you actually have to cut through the grain structure to produce the rod shape.

Bill does it RIGHT --> http://www.bmeltd.com/rods.htm
