fuel leak

just installed carb to tank with one gasket and its leaking between them. everything was very clean. can I install two gaskets or use a little permatex on both sides of gaskets to seal the leak, on a briggs flathead. any info would be great

I always use 2. It is legal and also helps prevent the long tube from sitting on the bottom of the tank and creating other problems.

I have seen the tanks crack at the rivets . look closely while its apart.

Can't use any type of sealer unless your fun racing because its against the rules

I use Felpro tank gasket , its .068 thick & is coated

found my leak tank had a hair line crack under the carburetor, sad tank looks brand new, thanks for the replys

The FelPro gasket is thicker, but make sure that the mounting surface on the tank is absolutely flat. The FelPro is a stiffer gasket and doesn't conform to uneven surfaces as well as using two stock (oem material) gaskets. It's also easy to strip the threads in the tank, so use caution with either gasket type.
