looking to get a cart for my 10 year old son , he has never raced before , what would be best set up for him.
 
I'm lucky to be able to be the first of many to say welcome to karting. ... :)

There are many types of karts and many kinds of kart racing on dirt or pavement. Do you know where your interests lie for what kind of racing your interested in? If I didn't ask it the next question to you would be, have you checked out tracks in your area? Do you need to know what tracks are in your area? The best setup, assuming your asking about the type of kart and the type of racing, totally depends on his interest and your interest. Give us some more info on interest and if you like the general area you live in. I think you will find all on here want to help you and want you and your son to become as addicted to karting as we are.
 
find the track you wanna run and go see what classes they offer and then talk to other racers about works at the track, and always ask lots of questions
 
Have someone who knows karting/karts to check out the kart before you buy it.
Maintenance/setup records/track data would be nice to get w/a kart.
