Hemi 212 RPM

Hit the track for the first time. 1/10 mile dirt oval, slight banking. Stock 212 Hemi, governor/oil sensor removed, valve lash at .0015. No other changes. Turned 5250rpm with 12/59. Dropped rear gear to a 58. Picked up a full second on lap times, but hit 5270rpm. Never picked up RPMs by dropping a tooth before. Am I just floating the valves and need to drop more teeth? Motor is fresh out of the box, so still breaking in.

Yes, I would guess that is the max for the motor. Pull a couple of teeth or up the driver till you get some drop in max rpm. Aim for 4800 - 4900 rpm.

Thanks! I was shooting for 4900, but ran out of gears. I'm going to up the driver to 13 and try again. Gonna be tricky. I was running Burriss SS11, but got sponsored a set of Reapers.
