I have used an 18 volt cordless drill with a Bendix and a 3/4 inch socket for clone engines.

Aw heck, put a pully on the flywheel and one on a chainsaw clutch and start 'em with a v-belt like we did years ago.

Are you making it out of a cage kart or a flat kart?

The down tubes on a store bought yard kart are not there to strengthen the kart.

There there to help prevent a kids head from becoming crushed or cut off. Please, make sure you don't let your kid or any kid ride around in a yard kart, without the protection of something to stop it if it goes under something low. please.

Running under the back of a pickup, under a pick nick table or low branch is enough to kill a kid. All the head gear in the world is no good against a broken neck.

Used electric drill before, not your typical electric drill don't particularly remember the specs. Used it to start my Deere lawn tractor, almost broke my wrist and ruined the drill. I use a jump pack to start my craftsman mower because The battery is shot and I'm too lazy/cheap to replace it, works good nice and lite and just have to plug it in and charge it occasionally.

i have a black and decker 20 volt and it will start my flathead pretty nice. you just have to make sure to kinda roll the engine to an easy spot and then u can get it spinning otherwise on the compresion, it will break your wrists.
