jr classes

have a 11 yr old driver who will be 12 in dec. been looking into sprint racing . cadet or rookie karts are one size jr and adult another size. i do not want to get a kart for this year then get another next year. you need a different chassis for 4 cycle or 2 cycle motor rules and classes for the jrs are confusing . so many motors you can run. from what i can tell some of the rookie or cadet karts will be longer next year if you run a certain type of motor. you can run one body here but not somewhere else . it is confusing. if some one would help explain the differences it would help us decide to stay with dirt or go to sprint racing

Here in southern KY every Jr is in a adult kart converted to fit a kid. We run dirt and the only class around here are restricted plate clone engine classes.

Go to your local track that you think you will want to race at. See what classes are being run and what has the most karts. Determine from there which is your best step moving forward. Don't just buy something becuase you like the price and looks good. Most of the time it will cost more in the long run. Spend the time and see where the numbers are for kart counts for the classes you want your driver to compete in. Sprint racing is great. We have been doing it for 15 years in the 4 cycle classes. Currently the LO-206 and the Pro Gas Animal classes are doing very well as far as kart counts.
