Lube ring Lubrication

Definitely the bearings . The lube ring situation .
I don't like tri-flow but that is what I'd suggest . For me any petroleum products attract dirt . Which can cause an issue . Polishing the inside of the lube ring could help if the bearings don't move freely.

Polish with Mothers or a. Aluminum polish nothing with grit .

I use Lucas Red'N'Tacky.
It's a sticky red grease with never-seize in it. The stuff is amazing at preventing wear and stays slick long after it is washed off.

Whatever you choose to use, it will still need cleaned and maintenanced regularly.

PRC suggests using White Lithium grease on the inside of the lube ring.

I use Lucas too, I haven’t replaced lube rings in years, they hardly show any wear.
