NAME THAT SERIES

By Bruce C. Walls

Media and Marketing Director

Monroe, N.C.-For many years 4-cycle sprint racing has been known as the Gold Cup Series. The American Kart Racing Association (AKRA) wants to find a new name for it’s new 4-cycle sprint series and is looking for help from the karting community. This new name must define the excitement 4-cycle sprint racing is going to be under new sanctioning.

4-cycle sprint racers compete on challenging road course tracks turning left and right battling both competitors and tricky tracks. This new national series will compete on some favorite traditional national tracks like 103 Street in Jacksonville, and possibly Ben Porter’s Palmetto Supertrack in Elgin, S.C., Kershaw, Barnesville and historic G&J Kartway in Camden, OH. It will also travel to some new venues that AKRA Vice President Van Gilder is currently working on.

More information on this series will be released soon. Gilder is also working on a new Road Racing, 4-cycle sprint Tech Manual Update and Supplement to the 2015 AKRA Rule Book that will be published soon along with a national series schedule>

If you have an idea for a new name for the National 4-cycle Sprint Series pass it along to AKRA President at billmcfast@aol.com - Media Director Bruce C. Walls at bwalls.@fast.net or call the main office at 704-764-8138.
