Did Briggs ever make 5hp blocks with needle bearing for crankshaft on the magneto side?

Been tried many times in the past, but I don't recall ever hearing a success story.

A fresh DU bushing on a good crank with proper oil and oiling is all that is needed

No needle bearing , but a roller bearing in their
IC block and some others done as a dual bearing blocks. No advantge in it though. A bushing is the way to go.

That's something from the 70's. About the time when everybody was figuring out the 5hp cranks didn't get enough oil up to the crank on the flywheel side at high rpm. Loose needles fitting into a machined pocket, likely McCulloch needle bearings.

Edited to add: It didn't work very well.

LOL, the McCulloch needle bearings didn't work very well either!
I can't recall the time spent looking for them and counting them (in the expansion chamber pipes) after a big bang.
