Ring Question

My top ring has a BS on it does it go up or down?

If someone were to put them in upside down what would it do? I see no difference in them at all.I am just wondering trying to learn all I can for the future. Thanks Tim

If the ring manufacture says to install w/ 'indicator' UP....I just take his word for it! Some do...Some don't! If you choose too try it....let us know.

If a piston ring has a shaped profile and it is installed incorrectly, it will not perform at it's best.. Nothing catastrophic will happen, you most likely will not know the difference.

I am just trying to figure all this out.I always follow the directions but was just wondering what would happen if installed wrong Ive seen beveled rings and rings that look the same I am just the curious type new to working with OHV.
