Scaling a kart

When scaling one where do u start and how do
You go about it. Everyone has a preference but just trying to see what everyone else says.
Do you look at percentages first then go to toe and camber or what. Thanks

We start with setup values for castor, camber, stagger, wheel spacing and toe dialed in to what we would use on the track, then look at corner weights and percentages and fiddle from there as necessary to get the percentages we want. It's an orderly approach that works for us.

what he said should always set caster camber toe and spacing/rear tread width then scale if u change any they will change percentages

Yep, get your front end and wheels adjusted first before scaling. Don't forget to have correct tire pressures, and the driver sitting as still as possible in the seat while wearing a helmet and with arms and legs in normal driving position.

If you don't know where to start with those front end etc. adjustments, contact your chassis manufacturer for their recommendations or make friends with a successful racer at your track. Realize that they can only suggest good starting points - you will need to experiment from there to find your own "sweet spot".

Here's my ritual in painful detail:

Put the kart on the scale with proper tire pressure, stagger, wheel spacing, fuel level, steering wheel locked, left rear adj cassette set at flush on top (if you run one), driver in kart applying gentle pressure turning steering wheel against lock pin to one side(same side every tine)
right side:
adjust toe
adjust caster
adjust toe again
adjust camber
adjust toe again.
repeat on left side
Then make sure total weight is good and left and front %'s are where you want them.
If you change front tires or wheel spacing redo the camber- caster-toe.
Adjust cross (I do it with the front adjustment, leaving the rear cassette in the flush position)
Go race and win!
