Yes . Or zero gauge on a flat surface. Then subtract the retainer height from your intended spring height.

Keep in mind that there are two different thickness flanges on the adjuster nuts of Bully clutches over the years (.040, & .060.") Measure what you've got FIRST, then calibrate if you like.
