Thicker axle?

I am running an open predator 420 on a track that is pretty much silt with little to no bite. Will a thicker axle help? How exactly will a thicker axle change the handling of the kart?

big motors will always have the ability to be loose, thats y cam selection is a big factor with these big boys. my suggestion is scoot the left rear in a 1/4" at a time and i use this alot cause it works so good! http://palmettospeedshop.com/TRACKSIDE-AGGRESSIVE-QT-PTS-TSAQT/

A thicker rear axle will flex less. which in turn will provide more bite for the rear tires.!

Random thought, racing sprint for so long and recently switching to dirt, I am wondering about cutting down a 40MM. I am wondering if the 40MM axle will help increase grip on those larger 1/5th mile + tracks that are hard and slick. Track is large so you do not want to overprep and lose roll speed, so maybe a 40MM axle will help increase grip at the rear with out losing that roll speed. Possibly let you run tires that are 5pts harder. Has it been done before? Are 40mm axles even legal in the various dirt oval series?

40 mm is typically not legal. in dirt oval racing.
