Valve Spring Compressor

I'm working on a big block build and need a valve spring compressor.

I've rented an automotive one from advance auto parts but the 390 head doesn't allow it to fully compress the spring.

I've seen the one that raceseng sells for the gx200's and I know it can be modified, but I'm trying to see if there is a more cost effective option.

Any help is appreciated.

c clamp with a piece of pvc cut at an angle to allow accses to keepers
Cut square both ends then cut a angular notch like when felling a tree.

Go to hardware store and buy 1" pipe nipple 2" long. Cut a big window in 1 side. Use a drill press with the adaptor that you just made. I use this setup on 65 lb springs.
