Venting the gas tank

I bought a aluminum tank and the cap was cracked, I bought a replacement cap but it only has a small pin size hole in the venting area. Will this be sufficient?

Always was in the past. I wouldn't recommend an Alum. tank for alky.

I have seen people drill the pin hole out bigger and put a fitting in the cap and fuel line hanging off of cap with a small fuel filter to keep dirt from entering.

We run the prc upright tank with a SA Animal on alky. ..already has the breather tube. On our sons kart with a jr clone...we just run the tank with the cap with little pin hole and gasket with no problems.

I would try it off the kart and see if a good flow can be maintained. Just run fuel back in the jug. Nobody on here can say for sure without seeing or trying it.

Me personally would enlarge the hole 1 or 2 sizes bigger .
May not need it , insurance for a dnf and no cost.
Is the hole in the original cap bigger, that's would be another indication.
