What is that tube???

I have been looking online at the 420cc Predator as something I think I would like to do. I am bored with my 196cc. Looking at photos online there appears to be a common setup on racing karts that has a tube running from the air filter adaptor to the fuel pump? What is this and what does it do?

I have read you can use a walbro pulse pump just like on my 196 but those have three connections, 1 pulse 2 fuel in, 3 fuel out. Where would this other line go?

Could you post a link to one of these pictures? Most 390/420 guys run the pulse for the fuel pump from the black phenolic spacer or fabbed up carb adapter if an aftermarket carb is used. Is this the line you mean? Some pumps have 2 outlets. Maybe some folks do something freaky with the "extra" outlet. Post that picture link. Maybe somebody is doing something I might want to try.
