Rebuilding a race kart for grandkids fun use only. I want to buy front wheels/tires the same size. The wheels I'm replacing are 6 x 6 with 2.5 inches backside of the wheel from center to bead. I consider this as backspace but most new wheels I see in this size (6 x 6) list 2.5 inches offset and don't indicate positive or negative offset. I would think a 6" wide wheel with 2.5" offset would only have 1/2 inch of wheel front or back depending on pos or neg offset. Is "Offset" being used as "Backspace" or am I totally confused (very likely). Any explanation is greatly appreciated.
