Yes, if you race dirt you'll need either a jackshaft with a clutch or an axle clutch. I use SMC axle clutches without a jackshaft on my 100cc engines and they work perfect like that, but use a jackshaft with a Birky on my bigger 131 stroker Sudam.
 
Sudam or Parilla all the way. Heck even an old Komet reed would do it. Hard to get that kinda HP from that little KT100
 
All reeds from that area are good, the difference is the availability of parts. In fact I prefer the TSL 98s to the Reedjets, or even the Itals or Vortex. Parilla were just more common, not necessarily faster. Some Rotax were monsters too but they had issues with Rotax rods unless replaced by IAME stuff.
