Most flathead rebuilds run in the $350 - $400 range (parts & labor) - no more than a clone rebuild.

Nice late season surge in flathead rebuilds.
Seems more guys are un-retiring their old flatheads and bringing them out to the tracks again - nice to see!

No updates in what, 15 years?

Rebuilds cost nearly the same as they did 15 years ago as well. ~$300 - $400.

It costs that much to rebuild one of those Chinese engines and you can't buy a competitive new Predator or sealed motor for that much either.

And besides, flatheads just have that race engine rumble. ;)
