track is considering a starter class.. up to 8 yr olds.. stock pred 79cc motor.. NO MODS..
Will this take a standard shoe clutch?
is described as having 5/8 pto shaft... (out put?)
also would like opinions on using this motor.
any down fall to this engine.. both oval and sprint.
Thanks

Columbus indoors is running them as a combo class with the COMER 50cc. There usually is a gear rule [ 4000 rpm max with gov. functional] There are cheap drum clutches avail/approx 50.00 new. The one problem is parts. That would be primarily GASKETS. or any ware items. H.F. is currently selling them for 100.00 plus tax. We run stock muffler. Suggest a CLAIMER on these engines or a Claimer-Trade deal.Remember this is a beginner class and drivers get a trophy for racing. With the cost of a BUILT yes BUILT COMER approaching 1,000.00 and 375.00 for a GOOD freshen-up, Some rules need to be in place. IMO Al

where are the cheap drum clutches for the 5/8 output shaft for the 79cc pred. who has these?
that's the plan if we can find a clutch to fit the $100 harbor freight motor

working on our demo kart for this kids class..
Comet karts had the Max torque clutch $40.
Picked up the 79cc pred motor this morning. at this point we will be leaving the govern and oil sensor in place.
Any recommendations on this motor.. motor mount angle, pick up tubes, check ball, replacement plug...
I have heard of problems with the 212 along these lines.. We want to eliminate any hiccups along the way... so when parents with out experience, who get their kids on the track won't have battles... just "kid-in-kart" and have fun..
