Air Cooled 100cc iame Reed Jets

If anyone is interested.....Russell Karting just got a batch of brand new 100cc Air Cooled Reed Jets from Italy.

Call Jim Jr. at Russell Karting if you want to buy one.

These will probably sell out pretty quick, so don't wait too long ;)

100cc aircooled reeds. Here's a dyno sheet of a stock one in "ICA" setup which is gas, 24mm carb and an exhaust port timing limit.

JB,

It should be noted the 26hp rating is with the puny carb and restrictive exhaust. These motors ripped in the Super Stock classes when leaned on by knowledgeable builders. It is still my belief a Super Stock Reedjet built by Tom Krause holds the track record at Caplin Speedway in Albuquerque. That is against opens, duals and all others while competing at the IKF Nationals during the mid-2000's.

I did preface the picture saying that it was with a 24mm carb on gas (ICA spec). Also keep in mind, the primary purpose of these motors, from the factory was to be compete on asphalt road courses, without clutches.
Some tracks might see RPMs dropping as low as 8000 in the tightest turn to as high as 21000 on the longest straight. As such, peak HP is sacrificed for power across the RPM range.
Take a typical open alky motor on the same kind of track sans clutch and it will get destroyed by the "puny carb and pipe" setup. The powerband is simply too narrow for that kind of application.

Horses for courses ;) It's not necessarily the case that one is "better" than the other.
