Insurance Question

I know 7 years ago my husband suffered injuries while racing. He was out of work for 5 months and had to go through physical theorpy besides the orthopedic specialist. The track used WKA insurance . Our personal medical insurance paid the % of bill on the policy after the deductable was met. After it paid the bills it was supposed to, the WKA insurance kicked in and paid all the remaining bills. You have to get all of your eob {explanation of benefits} together and send a copy to them and they will pay the balance. Once all the paper work is in order there is no problem . About 4 years later I fell at the track and shattered my elbow having to have surgery that night and also go through physical theory and 6 months later had to have more surgery to have plate and pins removed. Again the WKA track insurance paid all of the bills 100% after our medical insurance paid their part. I would highly recommend WKA insurance for any track because I know personally it does pay . The $5 dollar or so insurance fee that many complain about well exceeds its cost if you ever have to use it.

Thanks Linda for your input , now this makes sense go for the WKA insurance.................Anymore inputs, lets hear them....

We have NKA insurance, and from what I've gathered, they are very comparable to IKF or WKA. The lady that handles the insurance at our track told me pretty much the same thing, that the insurance covers whatever personal insurance doesn't.

.
It's not a matter of "Comparable to or Covers what" do you know of someone who needed to use the insurance coverage of NKA and they had no problem getting everything they said they'll do......ig. Linda went true WKA without any problem and everything was paid........This is what we the drivers looking for, we don't need to get the run around ...

Kenny did you ever check to see if AFLAC covers you in a racing accident, read the policy, I don't know just saying....Most agents only tell you what you want's to hear .......

when I inquired this year aflac did not.... nor could I find any that would, at any reasonable cost... I was also under the impression that the wka insurance had a limit of max coverage, which wasn't enough to cover a major mishap... if anyone finds supplemental insurance that positively covers kart racing for $0 prize money please let us know...

There used to be a reference in Insurance coverage as to "Professional" vs. "Amateur" kart racing ( or racing in general ). If you are injured, and they ask you how this happened, you tell them it was Amateur Kart Racing. But this was year ago ( 0ver 15 years ), don't know if it would still work. Ask another Insurance Co. how this would be covered if you were Amateur Kart Racing?

Many companies provide disability insurance, you can pay extra for if you choose.

As a benefit the company I worked for provided 6 months at full pay and then 50% pay after that if you became disabled. You could buy add on disability insurance if you wanted to raise your income after 6 months to 80% of your former pay.

Depending on your occupation you can buy disability insurance at various prices. A roofer will have a much higher premium then a school teacher. You need to check each policy to see if there is a rider or not on motor sports. A school teacher might be able to buy disability insurance with a lump sum pay out up front and 100% wage continuation, for less then $30 a month. If your racing the possibility of becoming disabled is there.

Insurance advantage program is an excellent program we offered to our RUSH Series racers in 2014. Google it. It is well worth it and they do cover karters. Excellent program for around 200 a year. Any questions about it you can calll me at 724-977-3728.
