LTO kart racing stagger question

I remember the 1st time someone told me that I didn't lean at all. I had never thought about it. When I went to my 1st race a very experienced driver told me that I was leaning too much and that I was moving my hands too much on the steering wheel.

I learned to hold my hands as close to 4 and 7 as I could. There is a lot of muscles in your body that you have to build up. It takes time and a lot of practice. Sit-ups, push-ups and one of those spring-loaded hand squeezer exercisers help a lot. I had some dumbbells for arm curls too. Tucking the elbows in helped me out a lot. You don't want the kart doing the driving. If a rough track has you whip sawing the steering wheel, you're doing it wrong. If you're holding the steering wheel at 2 and 10 with your elbows out to the side, you're doing it wrong.
