Stagger method?

Just curious how most people set stagger:

1) Using various rim widths to change sidewall stretch / rollout dia.

2) Stretching tire via heat + pressure

3) Some combination of above?

4) 5" rims on one side, 6" rims on other...

I start with #1 to get real close use a tire band to help controll diameter. Then make small adjustments with heat and pressure and cold bath.

Has anyone tried asymetrical stretching to get a "cone" shaped tire and theoretically better contact patch? :)

This is my stagger strategy...

That is generally done (cambering the tire) with a tire cutter. Growing the tire on one side and not the other has never been accomplished by me. The whole tire heats up. I guess if you built your own mold maybe......
