WKA Gold Cup Season Opener March 7-9 at Jacksonville

Im sure I speak for every racer in saying we hope he recovers as soon as possible! Looks like the timeline will be pretty close. Hope you make it! I bet we can get enough support together to get you a spot across from the grid so he won't walk much.

Any word on if there Will Be money racing for the lo206 heavy class in Jacksonville or just at some point in the 2014 season?

Steve Baker, How much are you charging to turn our old alki animals in to pro gas? I think the post was lost when Bobs4 when haywire. Im not running Jax but am running Camden and maybe even the rest of the season. Thanks, Steven Smith67

Just realized that Jax race is only 4 weeks away! Sure am looking forward to some warm weather, this winter has been brutally cold. Looks like this race will have good entry numbers from the calls we have been getting and feedback from WKA. Keep promoting and working together and this series can get back to big entry numbers like they had years ago. Well, better get back to work, only 4 weeks to go!!!!!!!!

Here's the latest news on Jacksonville Gold Cup. Pre-entry prices go up after this weekend!

IONIC EDGE CHASSIS POSTS NEW KART, ENGINE FOR JACKSONVILLE

CONCORD, N.C. – Event sponsor Ionic Edge Chassis of White, Georgia, has posted a new Ionic Edge chassis with a Baker Racing Engines Pro Gas Animal to any Ionic Edge racer who can win either Saturday or Sunday’s Pro Gas Animal main event at the Ionic Edge Chassis Gold Cup Nationals March 7-9 at 103rd Street Sports Complex in Jacksonville, Florida.

In order to win the chassis and engine package the racer must win one of the weekend’s Pro Gas Animal main events and be riding an Ionic Edge. If there is no winner at Jacksonville, the prize package will carry to round two of the Gold Cup, July 11-13 at G&J Kartway in Camden, Ohio.

Kyle Luttrell of Ionic Edge Chassis stated the following.

“We’re really proud to be apart of the WKA Gold Cup Series this year with our title sponsorship of Jacksonville. We wanted to put up this prize to show support and appreciation to our customers who have been very loyal and supportive of Ionic Edge. And thanks to Steve Baker of Baker Racing Engines for helping with the engine. We’re excited about this Pro Gas program in Gold Cup and we’re trying to do whatever possible to help,” Luttrell said.

Luttrell began manufacturing the Ionic Edge in 2008 and says now nearly every part on his chassis, including one-piece spindles and bearing cassettes, are manufactured in house. The word Ionic is an acronym for “Innovation on New Improved Chassis.”

Fields of 20 to 30 karts are expected for the Pro Gas Animal divisions at Jacksonville next month. Each day’s final boasts an $800 purse with $500 going to the feature winner. Many of the country’s best 4-cycle sprint racers will be in attendance and ready to do battle for the lucrative prizes.

Pre-registration is open for the Ionic Edge Chassis Nationals at Jacksonville. Click http://worldkarting.com/downloads/eb...cksonville.pdf to download the entry form.

Steven - Last year i was doing them for a flat 400.00 total. This year i adjusted this a little because of the unknown parts that have to be changed when making this conversion. So now I am using this for our pricing. In some cases I have to replace the carb because of the enlarged idle floor hole spec of .036 max that was commonly used in the alky carbs.

( Note - We believe this is a fair and competitive pricing when you consider a typical alky rebuild is between 400.00 and 500.00 ) - Yearly maintenance cost is significantly reduced for the Pro Gas engine compared to Alky engine.

$200 labor + parts. With that being said for the ones that we have converted below is what is most common in this conversion.

1) Cylinder block - $125.00
2) Camshaft - $68.00
3) Plastic blower housing cover - $6.00
4) Top head shield - $15.00
5) Head heat disperser - $17.00
6) Spark plug - $5.00
7) Gaskets & seals ( Cometic SS head gasket) - $28.00
8) 2 jets and nozzle - $10.00
9) Piston & rings - $58.00

So based on this estimate the total would be - $532.00
( All replaced parts are returned to customer! )

Thanks
Steve

Only 23 days until the Gold Cup Ionic Edge Chassis Nationals at 103rd Street. This is shaping up to be one of the biggest WKA gold cup national races I have seen in many years. It's great to hear of so many new racers that will be racing in the best 4 cycle national sprint racing in the country! Special thanks to all the sponsors this year as almost all the 22 classes over the 2 days of racing are sponsored. This race should be one of the most exciting races in a long time with all the money and special awards being given out over the 3 days of racing. Thanks to WKA for their focused efforts again this year on this national series, with high growth potential going forward, and all the sponsors listed below, and most important to all the racers and families for supporting the WKA gold cup series.
