Are Predators killing the clone?

Predators will fade out. There's not such thing as a true "OTB Predator" in the Southeast now. The guys who are running have cheated up predators, which completely defeats the purpose. They pay the same for a predator as a clone. The clones are just more competitive because that's where most the serious guys run who aren't cheating.
Im confident the track I race at up here in Ohio is a True Out of Box class. Also we just race the Pred class to give our 20+ hp Stock Appearing stuff a break..

Yep you will always have cheaters in any kind of racing but the thing about Predators is that their quality control is poor enough that if you buy 4 of them, one will be exceptionally strong, another not so much, and the other two will do all they were built to do- turn your rototiller 3650 rpm for 90 days (then warranty expires). The differences in stock performance leaves you with a couple choices. Keep buying them until you get a strong one, or do what you can to keep up. I wasnt in karting when the clone was first produced, were they pretty much equal right out of the box?

Nope, first clones raced were blue Jain Dong from harbor freight

Main issue with otb predator is there’s no tech, claim rule only, & certain ones are grossly cheating…and the guys that run legal, have no recourse

we’re looking at starting a sealed bsp class soon

RPM max rule, gov. in tact and functional, stock air box, stock exhaust negates cheating them up.

Tech is just the guidelines to engine blueprinting . If you tech you have a clone its no longer OTB. it makes the engine fair but it also drives the cost up

Claiming is recourse. If they are brave enough to lose that $500-600 motor let them run it.

they have all those rules in the Carolinas and all those motors are far from stock. the amount of work done to the engine is quite extensive even keeping all the parts "stock"
